The weather has suddenly turned much hotter over the past few days. It feels like the rainy season might finally be coming to an end☀️

The water temperature is rising too, which means we're entering the best paddling season of the year!

For the past few years, with the support of our local community, we've been encouraging everyone to wear life jackets by handing out this flyer and asking local facilities to display it.

The reason is simple: Lake Chuzenji has very few shallow areas. In most places, the water becomes deep almost immediately from the shoreline, and it's far from being a warm-water environment. Whether you're enjoying SUP or heading out onto the water for any activity, and even when children are playing near the shore, wearing a life jacket is extremely important.

A life jacket does much more than simply keep you afloat. If you accidentally fall into the water, it traps a layer of water between your body and the jacket. This acts as insulation, helping reduce heat loss and keeping you warmer. That's why it's so important to choose a life jacket that fits your body properly. The presence of buoyant foam makes a significant difference in how quickly your body loses heat in the water. Just imagine falling into the lake when the water is still cold—you'd want to slow that process down as much as possible.

I could talk endlessly about Lake Chuzenji and the equipment we use, so if you'd like to know more, please feel free to chat with our staff on site🦺

Lake Chuzenji is truly one of a kind, and it's a place we all cherish. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping protect this special lake so that we can continue to enjoy it together for years to come. ❗️

(One more quick note! 🙏)

① Life jackets that are especially thick around the abdomen are one of the biggest reasons it's difficult to climb back onto your board after falling into the water. They're not recommended for beginners learning SUP. If you're buying a life jacket, be sure to pay attention to its thickness around the torso.

② Water temperature and current conditions vary greatly from one location to another. If you regularly paddle at a particular spot, it's a good idea to practice getting back onto your board after a fall there. Discovering what the conditions are like only after you've fallen into the water can be extremely dangerous.

AND PLEASE DONT FORGET THAT THE LAKE CHUZENJI IS NOT ALLOWED TO SWIM.\
